Our Services

Boarding

Locochee Farm is a full-service boarding facility. Boarders have full use of the indoor arena, outdoor arena, and cross country course, and access to miles of trails. Boarders are welcome to have trainers come in for lessons or rides but appointment are required to avoid conflicts and ensure that arenas are not overcrowded.

All horses are given a stall in the barn and are turned out daily. During the summer, horses are turned out overnight to minimize exposure to heat and bugs, and during the winter, horses are kept in overnight and turned out during the warmer days. Every day, weather is monitored and horses may be kept inside when conditions warrant. Blankets, fly masks, and turnout boots will be put on horses and adjusted as needed. Horses are checked over before being turned out and when they are brought in for any bumps, scrapes and missing shoes. Stalls are cleaned once a day, run in sheds are cleaned once a week, and pastures are regularly dragged and mowed when necessary.

Horses are fed twice a day. Hay and certain grain is included in your board, but if there are specific grains or supplements that you want fed, you will need to provide those.

All boarders receive space in the tack room for up to two saddles and a trunk. Boarders need to bring their own grooming supplies, tack cleaning soap and sponges, and fly spray. Boarders are welcome to use the washers and dryers for horse laundry.

Fly control is provided through the use of Fly Predators during the summer months, automatic fly spray in the run in sheds, and fly traps throughout the barn. Boarders should leave a bottle of fly spray near their stalls so their horse can be sprayed prior to turnout.

Facilities Use

Outside trainers and non-boarders are welcome to use the arenas and cross country course by appointment only. You must call first to make sure the cross country course is open. Arena use only is $20 per use, cross country course usage is $35 (includes arena use). If a trainer teaches four or more consecutive lessons then it is considered a clinic and the trainer is required to pay a $100 facilities usage fee and individual fees are waived. A release must be signed upon your arrival and before riding. A new release is required each calendar year. A current coggins must also be on file for each horse that is hauled in.

Overnight Stabling and Accommodation

A limited number of stalls are available for overnight stabling for competitors traveling to the area for local events; the overnight stall fee is $40 per night and includes shavings and stall cleaning. A 7 day cancellation policy applies; any cancellations made less than 7 days will be charged for the first night for each stall reserved. A large 2-bedroom/2-bath apartment is also available for overnight stays if you want the added convenience of staying near your horse. The apartment features a very large living room with a television (Direct TV) and fully outfitted kitchen. The apartment can be rented in full for $100/night, or each bedroom/bath can be rented for $50 each with shared access to the kitchen and living area. Each bedroom is furnished with a full size bed, and a sofa in the living area can comfortably sleep a child or small adult. An additional twin size bed can be placed in either bedroom upon request. All bedding and towels are provided. All facilities are available on a limited basis and must be reserved in advance. Call or email Kate Carey for more details and to make reservations.
