Plantation Field Horse Trials
May 10, 2010 -
Kate, barn manager at Locochee, headed to Plantation Field Horse Trials this past weekend to compete her own Itchy Garrett and Tebogo's Grubby Soldier. She was accompanied by Locochee clients Jackie McGuinness riding Pepper, Hannah McSween riding Love Potion Number Nine, Sarah Griffith and Irish Hero, and Leslie Page's recently purchased Cardinio who was competed by Courtney Olmstead.
Kate and Itchy placed 2nd in a large Beginner Novice Division and will be moving up to Novice at their next event; Grubby scored an impressive 24.4 in dressage but dropped down to 8th overall because of some 'intended' time penalties in an Open Novice Division! Jackie and Pepper had a very successful outing in a large Training Division and finished third, and on their dressage score. Hannah and Nine also had a great go in their first event of the season and finished 8th in the Junior Beginner Novice Division. Sarah and Hero kept up their good work and finished 5th in Novice Rider. Courtney and Cardinio placed 5th also in an Open Novice Division.
All in all a very good weekend for Locochee horses and riders.

Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials
April 26, 2010 -
Locochee Farm had a very successful outing at Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials this weekend. Farm owner, Lysa Clemens and Boxing Day, took a last minute spot in a Novice Horse Division (so they had to compete HC); they had a great go scoring very well in dressage and having one unlucky rail in show-jumping. Barn Manager, Kate Carey and her horse Itchy Garret, brought home the blue ribbon in a large Beginner Novice Division, finishing on their dressage score, in what was Itchy's only second recognized horse trials. Locochee clients, Sara Griffith and her new horse Irish Hero, and, Anne Marstiller and Paramour, also had great rides, finishing 5th and 7th respectively in their Novice Division.

CDCTA
April 4, 2010 -
Congratulations to Kate Carey, who took two horses to CDCTA Spring Horse Trials this Saturday. Grubby Soldier, owned by Tebogo LLC, and Kate's own Itchy Garrett bravely tackled the beginner novice course. Itchy won dressage with an impressive 28, and Grubby was not far behind with his own impressive score of 29. Both jumped clean in show jumping, but Kate and Itchy went a little fast (Itchy thought it was prelim speed...), earning a few speeding tickets. Grubby was perfect, finishing in 5th place.
