About Locochee Farm

The farm was purchased by Lysa Hlavinka and Paul Clemens, fans and supporters of the sport of eventing, in 2006. Lysa, an amateur event rider, has been a student and client of Jenn Simmons since 2002, and Jenn operated her business out of Locochee Farm from 2006 through early 2010. Jenn is now located at Willow Bend Farm.

Locochee (pronounced like "Locust Shade") has been a favorite of foxhunters, trail riders and carriage drivers with its rolling open fields, extensive trail network, and abundant wildlife. In fact the name is taken from an old Indian word for meeting place--which it still is today. Still focused on event horses and riders, Locochee Farm now offers full service boarding, and use by appointment of its indoor and outdoor arenas and cross country schooling course.

Location

Northeast of Middleburg, in the Fairfax Hunt Territory, near Foxcroft School, Locochee Farm is about 10 minutes from downtown Middleburg and 1 hour from Washington DC.

Property

Over 95 acres of open pasture and woods, with 2 large ponds and extensive frontage on Beaverdam Creek, Locochee Farm is an ideal setting. Extensively fenced, the property also features many wooded riding trails throughout that link to a large network of trails. In 2008, a cross country schooling course, designed and built by Eric Bull, was added. The schooling course currently features a water and bank complex, ditches and trakeners, along with various portable jumps such as tables and logs, offering many opportunities to school at the beginner novice, novice and training levels.

Stables

The stable, built in 2005, provides every detail necessary to make it a true training facility and enough luxury touches to make it comfortable and inviting. 18 stalls line the center aisle design each with Comfort stall floors and Dutch doors to the outside. The aisle is lined with rubber brick and the stalls are constructed of fine wood paneling. There are 2 grooming stalls as well as a wash rack with hot and cold water. A wood paneled tack room, feed room, and laundry room with oversized wash and dryer, lie just off the grooming area. A large office and bath complete the comfortable barn complex.

Arenas and Paddocks

A 100 x 200 indoor arena built in 2005 and a 150 x 150 outdoor ring completed in 2009 both have top of the line rubber and fiber footing. There are six large paddocks, each with heated automatic waterers and run in sheds, as well as four smaller paddocks. All have four board fencing.

… if you are looking for a super place to keep your Eventers, it doesn't get much nicer than this!
